TEAS 7 study guide: sections, sub-content and where the points are
Built to TEAS Version 7 / HESI A2 (Elsevier review 6th ed.).Last reviewed .Changelog
ATI publishes the scored item count for every TEAS 7 sub-content area. Study time should follow those counts.
ATI TEAS is a trademark of Assessment Technologies Institute; HESI and Elsevier are trademarks of Elsevier Inc. Neither was involved in the production of, and neither endorses, First Try Academy.
Scored items by section and sub-content
Reading 39 scored: key ideas and details 15, craft and structure 9, integration of knowledge and ideas 15. Mathematics 34: numbers and algebra 18, measurement and data 16. Science 44: human anatomy and physiology 18, biology 9, chemistry 8, scientific reasoning 9. English and Language Usage 33: conventions 12, knowledge of language 11, vocabulary 10.
Science first
Anatomy and physiology alone is 18 of the 44 scored science items, and candidates consistently name Science as the section they feared. Study it at the depth of an introductory anatomy and physiology textbook, not a review sheet.
Math with the calculator
A calculator is built into the TEAS Math section (candidate-reported), so the skill is setting up the problem, not arithmetic. Drill ratios, percents, unit conversions and reading graphs.
FAQ
- What score do I need on the TEAS?
- Schools set their own cut scores; ATI publishes none. Enter your school's minimum in the simulator and every section is reported against it.
- Is HESI the same as TEAS?
- No. HESI A2 is Elsevier's entrance exam; schools pick its sections. The bundle covers both.
